Photoshop DCS2 for output?

I recently had a publisher tell me they could not use my Photoshop DCS 2 file for an ad. Their specs indicate TIFF-IT, CT/LW, or raster based DCS2. I don't have a Scitex so I opted for DCS2.

I had saved the Quark page as an eps and then rastered at 1200 dpi so type would be as sharp as possible. The resulting file was big, but not super huge. I think ~50mb. Is this not a "raster-based DCS2?" Why would they not be able to use it?

Every other publisher I deal with accepts PDF X1a. This isn't a problem since I am using a Prinergy rip.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I think they want a bitmapped pre-screened DCS2 (like the ones Prinergy creates). Create a process plan that creates a DCS raster image and output through that from Prinergy. This will create a single file DCS raster image but you must specify the output resolution for the best result.

Regards

Alan

Thanks for the input. I am playing with it now. I was able to get a friend at another prep house to make me a TIFF-IT to get the job done, but I will remember this for future reference.
