Creo oXYgen Scan Software
Hi all, we are curently using EverSmartScan software for our EverSmart Pro scanner. It has become out of date and we are looking to upgrade so we can use it with OSX.
Creo's new software is now called oXYgen. Anybody using this? Any feedback?
Thanks!

Yes, we use it on our iQsmart2. If you are used to using the EverSmartScan software you won't have a problem with this. It just looks like an upgrade for OS X. Most of it will look very familiar to you. It does have some very improved color functions also if you're into making adjutments before you scan.

Anyone have experience with scsi -> firewire adapters? Our EverSmart Supreme is so old it only has scsi, but we'd like to update our oXYgen scanning software to OSX.

hotmetal I was in the same quandary. I heard of the "Belkin" SCSI to Firewire adapter then heard a lot of mixed reviews. By the time I went to buy it I couldn't find it on the Belkin web site. :? kinda fishy. I know there are others out there, just can't pin down an honest assessment on one.
I use a UMAX Powerlook III that works just fine on OS 10.2.8 (Jaguar) but 10.3.x (Panther) won't recognize the scanner at all.
Silverfast says their SilverFast Pro will work fine but I can't afford to put down $400+ for something I don't know will work.
My boss wants a solution for under $50. So I guess I'm stuck in OS 9.2.2 for a while.
(the OS 10.2.8 is mine at home, we have 10.3.8 at work but I'm not aloud to use it for production purposes)

I'm a little leery of scsi -> firewire adapters. Your best bet would be to put a SCSI adapter in the Mac running OS X.

I agree with Joe, add a scsi card and toss the idea of a firewire adapter. Those adapters usually only add headaches.
And basic scsi cards are pretty cheap.

Better yet toss the scanner. The new firewire scanners blow those old scsi flatbeds away for scan speed and color.

Our iQSmart with Oxygen software ran around $10,000 with out the descreen or copydot options so it's not an impulse buy. We also tested a $2500 Epson scanner and the old saying is true. "You get what you pay for".

The machine we have is only 6 years old. Cost us over $15k. I figure that should be worth something. Hard to convince my employer and my scan tech to goto a whole new machine and/or process.
