any other reasons for moire????

Has anyone EVER encountered something that cause moire other than screen angles (film density, etc...) I can't think of anything at all that would, but I've encountered a strange problem. Any feedback would help.

We do a 4-color Christmas card for this one company, and every year one guy wears this checkered jacket in the group photo. Moire every time.
So, a pattern in your photo can cause moire.

Some old dcs files have moire before you merge the channels.

Sorta the same patterns as Bear Bryant's old hat, but much larger. It would look more at home on a couch in the rec room circa 1975.

Rescans of litho-printed pics without any blurring.

We usually have to apply a 1-2 pixel blur in PShop then an Unsharp Mask.


Can you see remnants of previous screens in the pics?

you can get patterns when ever you print something that has its own pattern. best examples, a canvas bag, pique shirts or even better a screen door. Its like trying to add more screen angles to the 4 you already have. Blurring is the most common way of fixing this. Unfortunatly this sometimes creates undesirable results. My best advice, Think about going stochastic. Worked wonders for our clothing catalog
