JDF workflow
Hi All,
Is anyone on JDF workflow yet? It seems to be Adobe is pushing this as a standard when in reality most places has their own system of tracking jobs already.
Embedding job info with each print job sounds great except someone still has to track down those info and enter them. How is this better than existing tracking systems except having the info whenever you go to print.
Also a basic job description list below may change at any stage of design. All this sounds to benefit printers/vendors than say art dept.
• number of pages
• trim page size
• print quantity
• type of binding
• inks (colors)
• desired stock
• cover type (separate cover or self-cover)
• contact information
Any idea on how JDF will really change the nature of book publishing, save money? If this isn't a money saving strategy I seriously doubt seeing creative people (art dept) participating.
