Smile My company wants to replace Dolev 250

Does anyone in this awesome forum have any suggestions
for a carnfeldt compatible imagesetter?
We've refurbished the processor and are looking into buying a new
imagesetter that wil fit into our carnfeldt processor.

Currently we use PSM 6.1/dolev 250 tsp board/carnfeldt processor.
our files are small (label art for dvd/nintendo).

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

So why would you want to replace the 250?
It's reasonably fast, it has good quality, and it's quite reliable.
Maybe what you don't like is the RIP !
then just buy a new Xitron or Compose rip for it, latest version, and you'll be able to process the latest PDF files w/transparency and all, and even Rip while exposing (which PSM v6.1 does not do).
Or, since you're using TSP board, upgrade to PS/M v8 which also Rips and prints at the same time. But you don't get support for the latest PDFs with transparency as you do in the Harlequins...

I believe it is on its dying days.
After 10 years of use we may have to replace the laser,
CID board, carriage, motors,....etc.

Your best bet may to replace it by another.
If you're using it with the processor online, be aware that the bridge will not work with a different imagesetter; so you'll have to become off-line.
If you're using it off-line, be aware that other imagesetters do not output cut film into a box, they output roll into a cassette. If you have high volume and not urgent times, this won't be a problem. But if you have low volume and need to process each job as soon as it's imaged, you'll have to live with a lot of waste (say, 20cm for each time you cut); otherwise you'll have a delay in processing (waiting for many jobs to accumulate in the cassete before wasting those 20cm, so that the waste is minimized).

In general, it's not easy to find imagesetters that are less than 10 years old... maybe 8... but don't expect to find a 5-year old imagesetter in the market easily.
Is it working, or did it break?
If it's working, but giving some trouble, it's unlikely to need any boards replaced. Intermittent failure is more usually related to sensors, laser, solenoid (the shutter), and of course the spinner motor. The spinner is the one really expensive part.
