Suitcase X1 problems

My coworkers copy of Suitcase X1 puked (quit working) this morning. She has a Dual 1.25GHz PPC G4, OS 10.3.9, 2GB RAM.

I could get the machine to run, but Quark, Indy, Illy, etc. would start but would not run. I had done the usual trashing the Suitcase prefs, but that didn't seem to help

I could not even get System Prefs to run, as Suitcase was set up as a startup item. I finally had to re-start Suitcase and turn off in Suitcase prefs to run at log in. Then the computer started running better. Even TextEdit would not run when Suitcase was running.

Finally, I just quit Suitcase and used only Font Book to activate fonts and then the programs all fired up and worked fine. She uses Font Book to manage some fonts and the rest are managed by Suitcase.

The question is: What do I do with her machine? Should I reinstall Suitcase (after having cleaned up Font Book, i.e. not managing any fonts with it) or should I say the heck with it and go to Font Explorer?

Any ideas?

We upgraded from suitcase 10 to Suitcase Fusion and I'm loving it. I've not had a problem yet (3 weeks). We juggle tons of fonts and it seems to do the trick very well.

I'm not sure if this would help but have you tried running MacJanitor or something liket that on her computer. I was having some weird stuff start to happen on my machine and it seemed to go away after running this software.
