This may well be a stupid question, but....

This may well be a stupid question, but do fonts "go out of date" with newer versions of software and operating systems? The reason I ask is our font library is around 12 years old and we are starting to see problems with Quark 6.5 and the CS package.

I wish they did expire, that way some of these old @ss fonts couldn't be used. Only joking....

but, you will notice some problems with older fonts not being recognized by some newer apps due to the font hints and metrics not being up-to-date. Some of the fonts we have in our adobe library go back to the early 80's, some times they work and sometimes I have to open them up in Fontographer and just save out a newer version of it and it will work.
