I second that pcmodem!!
On another note whichever font manager you use that works I found a script that somebody wrote (font cache cleaner) that works really well When you launch it ,it cleans up all the fonts that are hidden in all those nasty places and deletes them which solves all the conflicts.
Anytime I have funky things happen I run it and 90% of the time it solves the problem.
Another trick I use in suitcase is hold the command key down and drag your fonts int the temporaryfonts pulldown in suitcase and those fonts will open and overide all other fonts.
