New Posts - how does it work?

When I click on New Posts along the top menu items, I'm getting maybe 2 or 3 posts from the past ten minutes or so. I use this a lot on another forum I use, and it maintains an ongoing, infinite list of threads in chronological order. Kind of like when I click on Quick Links > Today's Posts.

Is this happening for others? I didn't see a tolerance setting in the CP to set this, other than displaying number of posts per page or age of posts.

this is based on a cookie - I can set it a few other ways so it will leave ALL posts as new until you actually read them..not my personal preference..

on the left is your last visit time correct? that is what I think it basis "new posts" on

if you login and logout that will also reset your last visit time and will assume all posts have been read - and resets the new post data

Ok, that makes sense. I'll probably start staying logged in daily from now on.
