Feedback....

After almost 2 years of use it's time to give some feedback. I don't think I've ever posted in this section of the forum.

One of the things I like best about PPF is the banner ads!
No, not actually the ads, but the fact that this site is not cluttered with bright flashing ads trying to suck me in because I'm this hours WINNER!! The banner is always there and swops out randomly from time to time, but the ads never "take over" the page.

The clean, non-cluttered structure is great, and allows the user to focus on what they are here for.... most of us - Prepress information.
Still diggin' this site... been a member since Jan 04'.

This place has got some class. Props to all that deserve it.
Vee

I agree Vee, but that really big "Prepressforums.com" button is really more of an eyesore than I would expect. It takes up almost 20% of my viewing area, and all 3 "banner" areas totally take almost 33% of the forum area. I have to scroll down almost half a page ever time I go to another Thread or a different page. I don't have a killer monitor at home it's just a 19" Viewsonic flat screen(VG910b) that goes to 1280 x 1024 res. I think a little more consideration to maybe consolidating space would be helpful. I've asked Cory in the Past to look into it and didn't really ever see a change, even after he agreed.

Oh Well, woah is me

I gotta disagree Sparky... I kinda like the big button - it's nice. I wouldn't change it if it was up to me. Don't get me wrong... I'm currently using a 15" PowerBook at home - not too much screen on this thing but it works. So that 19" your using aint sooo bad. Overall the layout is clean considering the amount of content in here. Like I said it's not cluttered-up like some places... Anyhooo - glad ya' agree!

but why have a button that takes me to the "Home Page" when I came here to view and respond to the Forums, and there is a redundant link in the left hand column. I'm just sayin that when I link to a post the tabs that say "New Topic" and "Post Reply" are dead center in my screen I think thats a little too much encroachment.

just my 2?

I must give congrats to Cory though, this "IS" one of the better cleaner less crowded forums around, and (Here's a thought - again) if monetary support is sought to maintain the Feel I would be happy to contribute to the cause. For recognition in the ID area of the post under the name so I would see "Moderator/Contributor" kinda thing 8)

I do agree that there is wasted space that causes more scrolling than needed. I have removed quite a bit of space from the template already, but could probably use some more squinching. until then scroll wheels are a wonderful thing

I've tried to keep the ads here to a minimum, but it is the only source of income currently.

I'm hoping in the next few months to do another overhaul on everything here, hopefully at that time I can take a look at getting the overall dimensions down as well..

things are up in the air for me right now as my wife and I are expecting our first child in a few weeks. Trying to catch up on all the sleep I can now

Best of luck! I have an 11 month old. Go ahead and get that sleep while you can! And if you don't get around to forum before your baby comes, it'll be a while before you get the chance. Either way... I don't mind the scrolling that much.

You mean you're wife isn't tossing and turning all night long trying to get comfortable, and making sure she keeps you awake at the same time ('Well it's you're baby too!').

I thought that was nature's way of getting you both used to the sleepless nights ahead of you

Regardless. Congratulations to you both and I hope everything goes well. Think of the best toy you ever had when you were a kid and multiply it a hundred fold. Babies are the best thing ever........

I don?t know how this will go down but I think this site is strong enough now for you (cory) to approach the big boys, Agfa, Adobe and the like.
When you think about it some people on PPF can make purchasing decisions (workflow and kit) already and certainly a lot of members will be able to in the future.
In fact some of the big boys staff are members here I think that speaks for it?s self.

Please don?t hit me if you think I?m talking out of turn.

Hope all goes well with babe

I agree. but still try to keep the clutter down, the cleanliness and ease to use is one of my favorite features of PPF(well, and the regulars of course  ...). I like that the ADs are not "in my face" but I certainly have clicked some of the AD's in the past....
