bummer.
I do think an explanation is in order. Cory, I know you've busted your ass for years with PPF with little return, so if that's the reason, I understand. It is kind of sad though. This is home for many of us folks without a life

Wow...I can't say that I'm jazzed about this either. What is the reason for this? PPF has been my virtual home for quite a while now.
If it ain't broke, don't effin' fix it. I just popped over to printplanet - no rants/raves/vents section?! That's always my first visit when I log into the forums.
See everyone on the other side. Maybe.

I too am disappointed to see PPF go away. I have learned so much from the members of this site. Like some have said it is a site for and about PREPRESS. I cannot count the numbers of times this site has saved my bacon when a tough job crossed my desk and I would not be the prepress professional I am had I not stumbled onto this weaalth of information. Cory you have done an outstanding job of providing the prepress community with this invaluable asset. THANK YOU for all you hard work over the years. I hope that this same dedication and enthusiasm carries over to Print Planet.

Count me in with a no vote. I have registered but as Jim said I was there and left when I found PPF. Time will tell and as was stated they were stuffy and over inflated some of those corporate idiots.
I vote David go in first and set up the Bar correctly and we ALL flood the Lounge with Hi, beer please and set the tone on Tuesday. I will so join me.
Overwhelm them and lets set the tone and drown the stuffy ones down to our level.

oh, my other 2 cent. Not much of a "merger" if it's just all the PPF users being expected to join Printplanet and use their forum. None of our mods are going there?
No animated avatars too. So long scardy mouse. We loved ya while we knew ya.
Yes Cory has busted his ass to run and improve this site. He's made NO MONEY afaik. It's cost him a bundle to keep it going. It is his domain, it is his site, it is his choice no matter what our opinions.
Thanks for all you've done over the years Cory.

If you are being asked for info on your boss, you are at the "old" site. The new one is in beta and goes live on Tuesday.
Try this...

do they even have a BAR???
man, I can't work without a drink in my hand...
did I say that outloud?...
but,
I've been a member of Printplanet for a few years, haven't made any post in recent times (a year or more).
Like a few have stated, I like it better here, the camaraderie, the lively banter, the occasional fist fight...
all of this makes this (PPF) an enjoyable site to visit and participate in.
and like it's been stated before...
time will tell, and we'll hopefully see you all on the other side.
David
PS. Will we still have our standings/rankings and will all the Mods here be Mods there?

All this talk of censorship and corporate stuffiness makes me feel bad and dirty. This may be an end of an era - thanks for all the fun times and heaps of helpful info.
I, for one, wouldn't object to paying a small subscription fee to keep PPF going as it is.
I updated my contact info in my profile in case anyone wants to keep in touch. Or you can just Google "gnubler" to peek in on the havoc I raise in other forums.
