Email Configuration: Backstage Pilot

I'm looking to configure the e-mail notification on our RIP. I have got as far as getting it to successfully send a test e-mail. Now I just need the last inch ... how do I get it to notify once the RIP genereates some sort of error or warning about a task? Any clues would be much appreciated.

Ivan

where exactly do you get stuck?
did you try setting a notif using that bell-icon in the rip-task?
If so did you there use the 'condition' (only if error or warning).
If so then see how a flexrip-tasks divides into 2 tasks once you laucnhed it. If the error is in the second part (the actual ripping on the flexrip), then it might not work. I guess the solution then is to go and set that notification rule in the configure-panel - notifications- and set a rule for that rip-task itself - then it will be done for all such tasks; without need to go and use that bell-icon in all your (prepped) tickets

Automatic Notification

I know I can click on the bell and view the Red Alerts and email each one manually.

What I want is the RIP to e-mail automatically when there is an alert. We are running film and would like to know when a Megasetter drops a piece and the queue stops, or stops because an imagesetter is out of film. I know that I can "Edit Notification Templates ...". But I don't know how to structure the notification rules to send based on specific conditions. Attached is a default notification template, but as yet, I don't know how to get the RIP to send regardless of whether a task finished successfully or failed, or completed with warnings.

Thank you for your help.

Notification of error

You of course may set the notification by clicking on the little bell icon in the Ticket window that is performing the Task you wish to monitor. When you setup the notification you have several choices of under what circumstances the notification is sent. One of those is " with errors or warnings". If you select that, then should the task fail, ( say of creating a 1-bit TIFF ), an email or other notification will be sent as you have determined.

Ok. I know that Esko's stuff is configured in different ways. You state that you have a bell icon in your ticket. I do not. When I go to launch a job and open a new task window, there is no bell. Perhaps the version you have is slightly different, or perhaps we are talking about two different things.

If you don't see a bell icon in *any* of your ticket-types, then you do not have the license for the notification feature... Notification technology is part of the "workflow automation" module ; this is the typical BackStage module that brings ticket-chaining, hotfolders, notifications and lots of other automation stuff. This can be seen in their 'guide to BackStage modules' that is posted on their website BackStage - Esko (see below-right on that page -see 'more information'. Zoom into the modules to see their contents)
