ArtPro 8 to Esko

Does anyone have a good way of getting ArtPro 8 files to a format that Esko can understand? I have a 4 up ArtPro file that I need to get to the Esko workflow. I created a DCS but it was 1.2 GB and choked the system. Any thoughts?

I've never been able to get an ArtPro file to RIP in Esko/Barco.
See if you can get a PDF to RIP.
You would think that since they're kinda like step brothers, they would be a little more compatible.

my .02,
David

artpro to esko

I don't think you will find a direct import, so have you tried the following steps? from most desireable to least editable.
PDF export from Artpro, then import in backstage/packedge (or whatever currentt software package you have)
single ps file out to import in Packedge. (pain in the neck, really difficult to edit, and a million cts but will work).
Depending on the complexity of the file, you might strip out the traps and export to illustrator and import/trap in Packedge. (obviously a last resort)
Hope this helps

After extensive testing that was my conclusion also. The file I was working with was a four up. Artpro kept crapping out when I tried writing anything but PDF. Thanx for the replys.

2 possible ways.1. Our Esko boys write a separated ps file out and import that.2. Depending on how complex(tranparencies) export the AP file to Ill.

Why so many CT's

We are using Backstage, why does the esko rip create individual ct's any way? Is it possible to keep the files from the native file?
We have also noticed instance where a large number of individual cts are created when actually it originally was just one.

How does this system differ from the way other systems handle images?

Does anyone know how differently it will be with Scope 3.0 PDF?

The EPF export option out of Illustrator has proven to be a rather nice way to get those files into Esko-native without creating lots of CTs. It's a free download.

Exchange of files

The one and only way to exchange files between ArtPro and Esko should be PDF 1.5

The export out of ArtPro 8.2 should be good, the import as well. Don't know 'bout the Esko-system.

Packedge v4 can open artPro's pdf file correct,if you buy the artpro pdf input option from Esko. You can contact with Esko's sale department or reseller.

Backstage Edit can also open/normalize ArtPro PDF files, if they are made correctly.
