Bleeds - How to add
I am new to Pitstop and one of the biggest problems we see with PDFs (supplied) is no bleeds! I take it that Pitstop can take care of this problem. Anyone care to help a newbie on this???

There are several ways of dealing with this depending on the type of object that you are dealing with. One way is to simply enlarge the object. You can also use the selection tool to select the object and then use the path editing tools.

Do you have to enlarge the page size? If its 8.5x11 make it 8.75x11.25?
Also, was I supposed to get a trianing DVD with purchase?
Thanks Matt!
btw - what is the cost of online one-to-one traing?

Nope, no training other than the manual comes with PitStop.
You can certainly change the page size as well as adding crop marks and such. You can then change the bleed and have it all show up.
Online training through me is $150 an hour. I usually do two hours a day for five days for new users.

Well, the price is kind of high, and so far today I figured out several different road blocks, it seems to be pretty logical. I think for now I'll be okay on my own. But thanks.

dkinsac, nocampo,
You can actually work with an Action List that will change bleed and crop box and afterwards scale content to fit the bleed box.
Make sure that you use non-proportionally scaling of your content.
Is this on PDF files only with vector objects or also pixel data? If there is pixel data in the file, you have to be careful with scaling because you will start losing image quality.
So it all depends what kind of output you have. Newspaper or high quality and glossy magazine?

We ran into this problem early on in our move to an all PDF workflow. Subsequently we have aske our customers to save their pdf files with an additional 1" surround when saving from their native file.
eg.
If your document size is 8.125 x 10.75 we ask that when saving the postscript that the output size (Paper Size) be 9.125 x 11.75, centered, with bleed and crop marks on. Make sure the crop marks are offset at least
.125" as the default on most programs leave them to close to the trim. This way not only do we get bleed the customer can also see right away if the bleed has been included. Works well for us.
