Epson 9800 Freezing when printing via Colorproof XF

When trying to print with our XF on our new 9800, it is freezing when the job is almost finished.

Our XF was installed on a XP machine and printed to our old 9600 via network card (TCP/IP port - 129.100.100.130).

Shutdown XF on the XP machine. I installed XF on a Small Biz Server 2003. Moved the dongle. Set it up with the 9800. The 9800 prints fine via the driver setup to the TCP/IP port (129.100.100.131) but will hang intermittently when printing via XF. This is really annoying when trying to do a linearization or optimization... not to mention the prepress is going to be upset if they can only print every other proof.

Help please.

Bill

What kind of file? I've had it do that with Tiff files generated by Nexus but PDF's, EPS's, or PS files all seem to work okay.

I ended up doing a work-around. Instead of printing to the TCP/IP port. I am printing to the system printer.

The downside is the prepress does not have access to the print spool queue on the server. Their clients show the job as printed when really it is just in the print spool queue.

If anyone knows of a solution so I can go back to direct TCP/IP printing, please let me know.

Thanks.

Bill

Are you calibrating and print at same time?

WE need to calibrate then print. not atomatic but no problems that way.

Seems like it for gets to comunicate during a calculate and print automatic
