Death of a dongle.

Hi all,

I present to you, all the way from Australia, another INposition woe of mine, this time in the form of a dongle dying! Yes, it seems my dongle of many years is dead - iMate cannot see it, and if I poll too many times, my machine hangs and I have to reboot.

I am running a trusty v2.5.4 of INposition. What does one do in this situation, apart from spending over $1000 for a new version of INposition to run on my OS X mac? And if I do that, can I use this same dongle to run my OS 9 version of INposition? Does anyone repair them? Can I get it replaced? Help?

Thanks in advance,

David.

David,

You can upgrade your current version for 795$US instead of buying a new version. You will receive a new disc with INposition version 2.5, version 5 and version 6 on the same CD, all three versions using the same dongle. This will allow you to work with Quark 3,4,5 and 6 files. You will also be able to work with PDFs.

You will have to send your broken dongle back to Dynagram if you upgrade.

Hope this helps,

Upgrading to INposition 6.5

Thanks for the reply Carlito. I have bit the bullet and have ordered INposition 6.5, which will take care of imposing on both my OS 9 and OS X machines. Can't wait for it to come! What PDF functionality does INposition 6.5 have over the old 2.5.4 version?

Hi David,

If you go at the following link: http://www.dynagram.com/Scripts/Upda...?L=1&P=M&PR=IN,
you will find all the new features since version 2.5.

Version 6.5 is the same as 6.1 except for the compatibility with OSX Tiger and Quark 6.5 so no description is available (Only for this version). Scroll the page downward and you will find the descriptions for each upgrades.

Both versions Dynagram released, version 5 and 6 work very well with PDF's but the company also offers a standalone application called Dynastrip. You can switch to Dynastrip at a lower cost if you are a current 2.5 user. The deal is that you get a free upgrade on the 30x30 inch version (2495$us). If you need the unlimited size version of Dynastrip, you get 1000$ off + a free upgrade to INposition 6 (3495$ instead of 4495$).

If you need a PDF solution, I definitely suggest you look at Dynastrip (*there is a downloadable demo version available on their website...www.dynagram.com) but INposition 5 or 6 will also do the job. what is good about Dyna is that you can mix different jobs on one plate so commercial work like flyers, business cards, postcards can all be imposed on one same sheet.

Hope i am not pushing Dynastrip too much!!! but it is worthwile taking a look at it.

Carlito

David,

mmm...I took the link for INposition's update but it seems it sends me to Dynastrip's update...There must be a problem with the hyperlinks...Anyways, if you go at www.dynagram.com and you click on "Downloads" under "Quicklinks", click on INposition' update and you will have the description of all the features that were added sibnce v2.5.

Carlito, I think you're mistaken with the size limit on the compact version of DynaStrip. It was recently increased to 32 inches (813mm).
