drip spots on plates

Howdy,
Newbie here...we got what appear to be drip spots on our Fuji LP-NV plates. The coating is removed, but the emulsion is still there...there's dot in the affected area...press people are freakin' out. Of course it's random and affects various sizes of plates we keep in stock. Of course it can't be replicated. Of course Enovation has never had any other complaints. Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to share with me your experiences and/or thoughts.
A thousand thanks in advance.

Not for sure if this is the same issue, but we had a Saber that would get condensation in the saber's air compressor. So every time the compressorkicked on while loading a plate it would spit small droplets of water randomly on the plates. We finally placed a dryer from granger in the air lines and the problem was solved.

B4press, imagine my delight when I read your post...sprinting to our Luxel Vx-9600, I discovered that there is no air compressor, but uses vacuum instead...thanks anyways, I appreciate you takin' the time to help me.

re: positive air flow

'Blade,
thanks for the insight...armed with this info, I'm gonna nail the Fuji tech to the cross (OK, i'll ask nicely to please check it out). As for being in the Boston area, I prefer the phrase, "We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto", or simply Tucson, AZ.

I've seen it from cold condensation drops getting into the developer tank when someone lifts the lid on the processor while a plate is running through.

thanks y'all for helpin' out

everything checks out on the platesetter and processor...looks like we're gonna blame it on a large batch of bad plates from Fuji. Is it Friday yet?

We have not seen this with the Fuji plates, but we did have a similar issue with out Kodak plates. The spray on the processor was pretty extreme and the developer would shoot out onto the plates past the developer tank and leave spots.
This could be a possibility depending on the processor mechanics.

I recently had a problem with a bad box of plates from Kodak. I'm pretty new to plate making and just that day had done my first chemistry change on the plate processor. I had also just cleaned the laser lens on our CTP for the first time per the regular maintenance manual. After these tasks were done I began running plates that had backed up while changing the chem. I ran out at least 12 plates with not problems at all and then on the 13th plate the CTP imaged and I could see the image on the transfer to the plate processor but after it processed it wiped the plate totally clean. I retried several times with different jobs with the same result. I was the last one in the shop on OT and suppose to have the next 2 days off and was freaking out cause I thought I had done something wrong and broken something. It turned out to be a box of bad plates and if I had put 2 and 2 together I would have realized that the problem started on the first plate out of a fresh box. I guess sometime we always assume the worst first.
