DPX 420 Eskofet Help

Hi, I am trying to set this up. I have no idea what im doing. It has ripMate v2.2. I can get my computer to communicate with the rip but it just errors all the time. I tried the restore factory settings but i think it just made things worse. Is there an easy way to do this or can anyone point me in the right direction. There seems to be no drivers/manuals/support or anything on the internet at all!!!

hi . i am assuming that you have installed the correct ppd on your pc/mac . how are you sending your files? are you sending via appletalk or spool folder and have you got any page setups .are the page setups published on the network with the start network server or start imput queue .has the rip pc found the dpx on boot as the page setups wont start and you will get a preview device .to test the dpx ,go into print file and select ps files and then select dpx test ps select then a page setup from the list ,select ps files in file type and then print and if its set up right the file should appear in the output controller .. Where are you ? as different countrys do it different ways . hope this helps.... i can send you the ppd if you give me your email .

Hi, thanks for your help. The pdxtest.ps works just fine but anything else (including .ps files that are already stored on the rip from the person i bought it from) won't work. it says something about margin errors. I have not installed any PPD drivers. Does this need to be installed on the rip or on the computer you are printing from? i am trying to print from os x 10.4. is there a PPD for this OS?

also will i be able to print from quark 7 to the dpx via the rip which only has ripmate 2.2?

hi ,the ppd goes in the mac not the dpx and quark should be fine.i suspect that the margin error is because the page sent is too big for the plate .ie if the plate size is 340x485 as for the ryobi 3302 ,then an A3 extra page and witha specified margin will be between 19 and 22mm so you havnt got the space so reduce the page size in the page setup /page layout and make sure the rotation is correct . try reducing the margin.. what im worried about is the fact that you went to rip defaults so you may have to recreate the setups and media settings. check that the media is right . quit ripmate and go in to rip manager ,then sellect dpx420 tap and on the pulldown menu select media manager. you should have two cassetes saYING SOMETHING LIKE DOTPRINT 400 , WIDTH 402 LENGTH 61. THEN SELECT EDIT CASSETTES AND EDIT MEDIA , TRANSPORT VAC 4 EXPO VAC 25 PROC SPEED 20 CORE 200 TEMP 30 DRY 40 . ALSO IN EDIT CASSETTE IS PUNCHING SELECTED? HOPE THIS HELPS ...

I think I have managed to get a little further, thanks. now how do I change the page setups? if i use the test1800 page setup i don't get an error however if i use any other profile i get an undefinederror blah blah!

you restored settings? do you mean the machine paramaters in hyperterminal?

and when you say it "errors out" what do you mean?
