We have a Plate Rite 8600, do you think it would be about the same process? Also, are you installing new ones or did they come off?

I suppose the process is the same. On the package of new ones has label "tail clamps Plate Rite 8600".
We have error message "trail clamps have been used for more than the endurance time" and order new ones, but i dont know how to replace them.

Do you have a service contract and/or 24/7 hour phone support? You want to make sure it does not void any warranties for you to install them. I think they could walk you through it if you do.

Also, we had the experience of receiving some bad trail clamps and they had to be replaced again.

Do you know how to access the Service Menu on the keypad?

I am from East Europe and I wait for 4 months for delivery of trail clamps!!!
service support for this part of the world is a crap! i don't care about any warranties.

Take side cover off and use the key to bypass the sensors. Take the back cover off (where the plates exit). Access the Service Menu and turn the drum brake off on the keypad. Then go to the back of the machine and rotate the drum so you can see the trail clamps. When you get the drum in a position to get to the trail clamps, go back to keypad and lock the drum position. (Its easier to install them if the drum isn't moving and it requires some pressure to seat them.)

Take the old ones off from left to right and install the new ones in the same position from left to right. Make sure you seat them level and as far down as they will go. Its a little tricky to get them in so be sure you study the old ones before you take them out to get new ones in correct position. Then replace back cover so you can test them. From the keypad do pick up clamps. Take key out and turn machine off and on to re-initialize. If you get an error message they are not seated right, so just try again. The first time I did it I got an error message that there was a problem with the Home side clamp (the side the keypad is on). I just re-seated the home side clamp and all was well.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

I am not sure how to get rid of the error message by letting the machine know it has new clamps. I never did that part, sorry. Maybe someone else can help you with that. Maybe re-set the counter? I am not sure.

The drum is on the "back" of the machine (the side where the plates EXIT). If you have a conveyor system, you need to raise it up to get it out of the way to access the back panel. Also, if you have a heater/oven, I would suggest turning that off, as well as the conveyor (after it cools). If you need any more info I will try to check this frequently. I will be at work tomorrow though and won't have much time (very, very busy), but will do my best to check this site. Good luck.
