Luscher CTP

We've had a Luscher CTP for about 9 months now.

Every now and again, we get lines across the plate (around the drum). Sometimes we remake the plate with the same TIFF, and the line is gone. Sometimes we have to re-rip the TIFF. Sometimes no matter what we do, the lines don't disappear. Sometimes there is 1 line, sometimes there are 20.

The sales guys tell us "It's not our machine". It's so sporatic of a problem, we can't do anything but save the plates to show them, and watch them scratch their heads while looking at them.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

Thanks.

That's odd, after we had ours for about 9 months we had the same problem. Luscher blamed the processor, oven, and plates while the plate manufacturer blamed the Luscher CTP. Finally we completely cleaned the processor, made sure the oven was functioning properly, made sure the plates were not out of date and we still had the problem. Then Luscher came in for a day or so and the problem went away although Luscher claimed they didn't do anything we believe they made adjustments to the laser. It's still a mystery though unless Luscher admits they changed something.

It seems problems comes from Luscher. It is necessary to check input voltage (220v) and ground regulation, ground connection via data transfer cable from rip server to ctp and also any unisolated cable in ctp.

Good luck

Luscher

Hi All

We have just placed an order for an Xpose160 with the manual plate handling option using a Celebrant workflow. Anyone have any comments on the system?

We are located in South Africa and there are only 5 machines(Luscher) in our country so reliability of the system is very important to us

Thanks
John

Since I last posted (May), I think we've had only one or two of the "Scratch" problems.

Other than that, the machine is VERY problem free. I'd highly reccommend it.
