Outputing film positives on Epson 4000 and positive plates

I'm been outputing .ps and pdf files to a Epson 4000 to produce film positives and negatives using clear inkjet film with a RIP costing under $900 and exposing positive or negative plates costing $1.50 each. The line screens range from 30 to 150 lpi. The film cost is $.80 per sq ft. What interest is out there for Computer-to-film, especially positive film that uses positive plates.

Re: Outputing film positives on Epson 4000 and positive plat

[quote="using clear inkjet film[/quote]

Could you tell me what type of inkjet film you are using? We don't use film at all, but occasionally we have to have film output for a vendor.

We have a couple of vendors for our buyout processes (UV and Foil vendors) who don't take digital files. I have to send digital files to a local small printer and have them output film for me. I then have to layout the film on a mylar sheet to give to the UV or foil vendors.

With a majority of shops going CTP, it's hard to find someone that can output film for me anymore.

If I could use my Epson to output film, that would be a great benefit for me.

Thanks
