Luscher CTP
We've finally made the decision and picked the Luscher Xpose! system over the Creo. It's faster and cheaper.
Anyone have any experience or working knowledge of Luscher? (I wasn't in on the decision making process so don't be afraid to fire away and tell me if this was a horrible decision.)

Dear Joe,
You've made the right decision to buy Luscher CTP. It's the best in the world by far. It's the future of CTP! You will appreciate more when later you have to change one or two laser diodes. YOu wont believe how simple and inexpensive it is to do it.

You wouldn't be a sales rep, by any chance? The OP asked for ayone with experience or working knowledge, not some pufferty you could get from the company's web site.

After much research by and comparison by our owner, plant manager, and prepress manager they determined the Luscher was faster, cheaper, and easier to maintain and repair. The owner was leaning towards the Creo because the warranty was a little better but Luscher matched the Creo warranty plus we aren't tied into any plate deal for x number of years. They also went to a printing plant in Wisconsin to see the Luscher in operation and to another printing plant in Indiana to see the Creo in operation and they all agreed on the Luscher.
Pete, have you done production on the Luscher?

The Luscher has been great.
It is thermal.
Luscher has replaced some diodes. Not sure how many hours.
Luscher has been out for routine maintenance like a clogged vacuum line but nothing major.
Not sure about the motor. It's been here since May of 2005 if that tells you anything.
We will be adding a second imager soon...which I guess means we're very happy with Luscher.

We've had our Luscher since winter of 2005 (I think).
We had some lasers replaced last week, the 1st service we've had on it.
It was definately cheaper than Creo, which was a major selling point.
We love ours.
