Question Epson 9800 360DPI Bi-directional banding

Hi

I have tried proofing using 360 dpi on our Epson 9800 and I am getting banding that I believe it is from the large step it is making. Is it possible to adjust for this or is this what I should expect at 360dpi bi-directional?

Thanks

Not in my experiences. Which paper are you using? What is the humidity percentage in the room?

it can be adjusted...there are settings in the printer and with rampage there are some settings at the RIP...something to do with the gap or paper speed...it's been a long time

if you've had it less than a year, I'd call Epson tech support...they've walked me through a few things

Bottom line, if they make a printer to print at 360 dpi, then it should

39% humidity. Printing on our 8ml Satin proofing stock the lines are very hard to see. But they show up alot on our Matte Canvas. I tried adjusting the platen gap on the printer it self. And on our EFI rip I adjusted the (Length Correction of Print Medium)setting????

Your humidity is ok, all im saying is that we had problems with our printers due to low humidity. Espcially on the hp 5500uvps printer... but that's another story. I don't really know what to tell you other than to try to increase the humidity in the room. You could mop the floor to achieve a humidity increase quickly and see if it improves print quality. However, I've never had any problems with the epson satin, the canvas is another story but never satin.

You can adjust it on the printer itself.
Go to setup and adjust feed + or -.

It is possible that your rip has same/similar adjustment and that would be the name, "feed adjustment" or similar.

>>humidity

what you really need to worry about is which way the printer faces, more north will give you banding if it's southwest, but only in the fall

Exclamation There should be no suprise here!

At 360 dpi and bi-directional you are expecting quality? Why? This is the "color blueline" mode. All you were to use this for is to see if the type was where you put it and if the little red (you pick color) box you placed in your job is in the right place.
360 DPI is not "quality".
At least you should be using 720 DPI for proofing and color correction maps.
