Question Proofing System Recommendations

I work in the prepress dept. for a company that manufactures and prints on aluminum, tin and laminate tubes. We are looking for a proofing system to replace what we currently use. Currently we are using DuPont Croma Pro software installed on a Windows 2000 Server box. The proofs print out on digital overlay media from an HP DesignJet 10ps printer. Most of our customers require separated proofs which is why we print on the digital overlay media. Some customers require a composite along with the color key. The results we have been getting with our current system are not as good as we would like. Does anyone have any suggestions? Most of the files we receive are in Illustrator but some are in Quark Xpress and maybe an occasional one in FreeHand or InDesign. We do NOT convert to pdf. We send the native files directly to the CromaPro server from our G5 Macs. We currently use 13" x 19" media which 99% of the time allows us to get 2 up. Some smaller tubes will allow 4 up. Everything for the aluminum and tin tubes is spot colors. The laminate tubes use spot and 4-c process.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
