1/c grayscale proof - what do you use?

Can anybody give me ideas of how they proof 1/c halftone work?

Looking for a good replacement for contact paper output, like from an imagesetter.

Don't really like printing black photos to inkjet because it really ends up looking way richer than it really is seeing how it adds all colors to the black. Unless you have a way to control that with color management. Want to give something a little more substantial than a laser printout.

Thanks,
Local1

We have the same problem. Inkjet proofs don't match black ink on press very well. We have had to gang press proof images on more than one occasion.
The Kodak Matchprint epson 9800 proofer is better than our Integris Inkjet epson 10600 but still not the best answer.
So I guess my answer to your question is a press proof.

Sounds like I am not alone. We have a donor based system but it is expensive and cumbersome. Thanks for the input.
