Hey 30years,

Do you use Image Control also for reading the profile targets? About 30 seconds to read the sheet and you are done!!! Fastest way to generate a profile in the world...although I do not think anyone can justify Image Control just to read IT8 targets For those not familiar with Image Control, it is used for QC for press during the run. It is a spectrophotometer that reads the whole press sheet to compare to the digital master provide by prepress for ink key setting or an OKed sheet. The key here is it is reading the whole sheet, not just color bars. If the sheet drifted, the press operation just hits a button and it will pull it back in. Reads a full 8 up sheet in 30 seconds flat. This is over 160,000 measurements. So using it to generate profiles will spoil a color guru. Here is a link : Heidelberg - Prinect Image Control - Overview

30years, by any chance are you using MiniSpots? Same link has another link to MiniSpots on the upper right hand side of the page.

Thanks for your comments.

Regards,

Mark

Yes, we do use Image Control to read the profile targets and yes... it is FAST. It's a great way to verify your proofs. However, it would be pretty hard to justify Image Control just for proofing... ($$$). But since it's not so hard to do in the press room, we have it and it sure beats using a little DTP41 to read color patches. We were very, very happy with the profile and software that we had. But Heidelberg came in and managed to dial it in even closer.

No, we are not using MiniSpots right now. We would have to change a few things on the front end to do that. Maybe someday...

Greetings all! My first post! Isn’t life is grand!
Over the rip color thingy.
GMG and Oris can support ICC and produce its own Color profiles with maximum results. Nexus on the other hand really needs to get its act together supporting ICC. Nexus and Artpro only applies ICC to linework and not Ct's (crazy hey)! And BTW GMG also supports Multicolor ICC’s too (Great for the packaging market)!

Have you personally got this to function? I've been having an issue where a Monaco Profiler generated multicolor ICC profile results in a "unknown error" at GMG's rip. I've got a support case opened up for this, but no solution as of yet. Just wondering if others are seing the same thing. (Hey Nico...little help?)

Hi Clod,
I guess you are using the latest and greatest GMG software version?! (Which is 4.1.24a) Please PM me when you got the solution.
You can also send me an email with the profile for investigation (Guess you have my mail )
