Epson 7600

Hi All,
I'm new to using this printer model, does anyone here have experience with it before? If so, how accurate is this printer in matching printed materials?

Thanks.

I regret deeply the day I first set eyes on that $%#%$ device. It's slow and frequently has nozzle problems while printing. Running the head cleaner a couple of times is required to get it to printing correctly. And that's a waste of ink. :x

Color matching will depend on the type of inks you use as well as software. We're using Epson Photographic Dye Ink but our reds appear to be more orange than red. Red should be the easist to match!!

Part of our calibration issue is due to the fact that as a trade shop, we weren't aiming to match a specific press or presses. Your color matching experience may go better than ours if you make sure to get the right inks and software for calibartion.

We've had a pretty positive experience with ours, but with good vendor support. it's used for proofing and then press-matching. But it's been calibrated by our CTP/plate/proofing suppliers. We use Black Magic proofing with the Fuji Celebrant RIP. It's linearised to our presses.
If you can find a reliable/competent Epson service tech, quietly clip a sat-tracker anklet on him/her while they're too busy to notice. Without good tech backup, you can quickly grind to a halt.
Some things to keep in mind:
-use 3 second clean most of the time, [there's a button on the console for it. use the "heavy-duty" clean occasionally if the 3 sec one doesn't work. It's buried in the menu somewhere...toggle right/down/down/down/right, [from memory only]-run a test strip at least daily. more often if you have temp/humidity changes through the day. [Toggle right/down/right/right/right...]. If there are any missing elements, you need to clean and retest.
If you get any error messages which continue to sit on the console, it may be heralding a major service. On one particular one, if you ignore it, the Epson will cease to work at some point until you have it carried out.
Good luck.
Post back here if you have more specific queries. I'll be flagged on email.
