Is anybody using remote director for soft proofing

Hello,

I am curious if anybody is using Remote Director from Integrated Color Solutions. I thought I read that no special hardware is needed for accurate color display. I really doubt it, but that would be pretty sweet if that were the case! It would really help with monitor calibration in house as well. I am looking for the specific pros and cons.

We are a book printer that is looking for a good soft proofing solution for color and/or black and white work. We may need to send a proof of 1000 pgs or more, but the average would be closer to 300pgs. Remote Director looks pretty good, but if anyone else uses something else that they are really pleased with, please let me know.

Thanks... I love this forum.

I use it.

you need a SWOP certified monitor. a certified monitor calibrator.
If you are going to host your own files you need a server set up.

If you use ICS to host you just need standard Mac/PC set ups with a approved display.

I think for 26K per year you can do that. That's ICS unlimited images plan. Of course with a approved monitor and some kind of a colorimeter like i1 2 Display or discontinued Monaco Optix XR as rtwdwk said.
