Profile creation question

Have Bestcolor 5.1.I need to build a profile that matches my press curve. What software (and hardware) would anyone reccomend for creating ICC profiles? I have Profile Wizard (older version) and it creates .prof files. Doesn't seem that Best recognizes them. I have a Gretag Spectroscan and an Eye One. Suggestions?

PS - posted this on EFI forum, no response.

I have MonacoProof that is not being used. That might be the exact ticket you need. If you are or might be interested, PM me and I'll see what my owner would want for it.

Hi scottws,

We have Prinect Profile Toolbox. The heart of this software hails back to the Hell Scanner days. The Western Michigan University did an independent study and Prinect Profile Toolbox created the most accurate Print/Proof profile with the lowest Delta E of all that submitted (all companies were invited, interesting, some of the majors did not and the entry fee was a very reasonable $1,000).

The software also has iteration functionality. This was the first software that generates ICC profiles to provide this capability. Iterations were not used in the study, so the Delta E would have been even lower. Also bundled with it is Quality Monitor. This program can be used to track proof to proof, proof to press, press sheet to press sheet short or long term trends. It can also be used to certify the proof.

Mark

Hi,
PerfX Color management uses artificial intelligence to create the color LUT for the ICC profile. This avoid to use "iterations" after the first try to get the best results. This approach help to create the best "picture" of the color behavior of printing presses and any non-linear color reproduction processes.
Clients never have to "tweak" the first profile made with PerfX.

We’ve been also evaluated in the study and ranked very well, even if our version was in its first release (now v 3.6).

The study was made, using the "default" black generation settings of each profilers tested. In this way, the ranking was based on a "default" settings wich was not the best way to evaluate the best potential of every profilers tested.

It would be nice to repeat the evaluation and see how every profiler perform with all their potential (black gen., Iteration, etc.)

Hi Louis,

Good point, we have released another version since the tests with even better results. Seems that time flys when you are having fun, our next release is about a month away!

I believe the defaults were used to keep the tests on an even playing field.

As for client never have to tweak, with color being so subjective, that would have to be "more then artificial intelligence"

Good luck and best regards,

Mark

-->PerfX Color management uses artificial intelligence to create the color LUT for the ICC profile.

Is there a demo?
