Does anyone use BlackMagic rip for newsprint proofing? I am struggling with it and I am thinking about replacing it with some other solution. What else is out there that will give me dots at 85 linescreen on newsprint stock. I have to match New York Times and Wall Street Journal newspapers.

What is the print device you are using? I did this for a test for someone 8 years or so on a Harlequin RIP on Epson 3000 quality was quite amazing, but required manual tweaking of of calibration curves to limit the ink just right

I am using HP 1050c with BlackMagic 2.6 (for color) and Harlequin rip for dots.

We're using a harlequinn rip with hipp plugin to print to the hp1050's and match our own newsprint profile.

We are also using the hq rip to feed a color server that makes color accurate soft proofs for us as well.

We had Black Magic and I threw it to the curb. The slowest, biggest POS I have seen in a while.
