making a reference file of an IT8.7/2
I would like to make my own reference file from my kodak IT8.7/2 reflective scanner target.
I have Gretag Macbeth Measure Tool version 5.0. I do not have a license for it, but it operates in demo mode. I am able to choose the IT8.7/2 target in the program, measure the target and save the data file.
I need to be able to load the reference file into Monaco Profiler to create a scanner profile from the target I measured.
How do I get Monaco Profiler to recognize the data that I made with measure tool?
I know there is a way of opening the file I measured, copy the data then open a reference file supplied with Monoco Profiler and paste the data into it.
If anyone can help me that would be great.
Also, I'm open to using other software to accomplish this but Monoco has to be the program that makes the profile.

You might be able to do this with Excel, but then again, maybe not. Your likely only measureing Lab data right? And most scanner reference files contain XYZ as well. I've only succeeded in crashing Profiler trying to use home made reference files. You'll probably have to wrestle to get it to work.

Try adjusting your color sphintometer to a value of beta lab then load theIT8.7/2 target in the program

OK Chopper, thanks for the advice but it seems you have no clue.
Anyone else that has "real" advice, please let me know.

I'm actually awaiting my it8.7 targets. Doing a reflective and a transparency. I ordered from http://www.targets.coloraid.de/ and they provide the reference files on their site. You should be able to contact kodak to get the reference file. Or maybe it's time to get a new one ($20 including shipping from coloraid).

I have made my own reference file in the past and the results were absolutely right on. The problem I'm having is that the software that allowed me to make my own reference file is only compatable with OS9 and I don't have access to the old OS9 any longer.

Ok, You should be able to simply open an existing Kodak Q60 reference file in Excel and copy your measurement data into it. The problem I was having was in trying to paste the data into a reference file that came with Monaco Profiler...still can't get that to work. But Profiler recognizes the data just fine when copied into a Q60 reference file.
BTW, Gretag Profile Maker recognizes the data without any manipulation (although I understand you don't have a dongle). It'll be interesting to see how these two softwares learn to play nice with each other (or not) now that Xrite and Gretag are all huggy-kissy.

Does anyone know how to copy the data into the Q60 reference file provided with Monaco Profiler? I know this sounds easy but I can't seem to select only the data that I want to replace.
The problem I'm having is that I can copy the data from the file I measured, but can't select the same columns in the Monaco Provided Q60 reference file. I know what I have to do, just don't know how to do a simple paste over only the data that I want to replace.

Are you using Excel? This doesn't work well in a simple text editor as you can't select specific columns only. When you open the file in Excel, you can set the delimiters to space or tab (depending on the file your opening) so that the data is assigned to columns appropriately, and therefore you can select just the L* column, or L,a,b,x,y,z columns without selecting everything...so you can paste in column data. But again, with the Monaco reference files (named MONR2002.02.01.txt or similar) I found that I crash the software by even simply altering only the measurement data. If you use the R1200106.Q60 (or similarly named) files to paste your data into, it appears to work without issue.

Figured it out. It works great. Thanks for the help.
