Looking for new printer

Hey All,
I currently have an epson 2200 that i personally think does a great job for our shop. We do basically smally runs, under 15000, of flyers and postcards. We do not need completely color accurate proofs as our general clients do not want to pay for it. All in all they are happy with what they currently get. We want to get rid of our savin color copier and get something less costly in the long run. We want something inexpensive. I was thinking of the epson 2400 but i know the supplies might get costly but i do not know. We pay almost 300 a month for the color copier and i feel its better to get another printer and pay once for it and whatever the cost of supplies monthly are. let me know what you guys think.

steve

The 2400 is a great printer and much faster than your 2200. However, with the volume of prints you?re doing, you?ll end up saving money going with a 4800 due to the larger ink carts. The extra size is nice but the savings in ink will make up the difference pretty quickly.

Also note that you can use the 220 ml ink cartridges in the 4800 for further ink savings. Though I seem to recall that the 4800's cartridges are unique to the printer, rather than using the same cartridges as the 78/9800, which need to be pressurized.

We're expecting our Epson 9800 anytime now, if your not looking for and immediate purchase wait out and i'll be posting a review..

Our customers are the same way, we will primarily use it for printing posters/banners/etc and our own inhouse proofing.

Went to Print '05 and CtP and Wideformat were the two main things we looked at. Visited, Agfa (Sells Epson, they had a past generation model in their booth...? WTF?), Screen (Don't Remember), Heidelberg (Sells HP), HP, Canon, Xerox and Epson.

All of the manufacturers said they supported Epson. When we compared quality and costs Epson was not only the best quality in our eyes, but also the cheapest.

Just my 2pence

[edit] You probably thought WTF i don't need a the huge 9800, but getting a review of the 9800 would be pretty much comparable to a 4800 or 7800.
