Kodak Approval matte laminate

Anyone ever use the matte laminate with the Approval XP4? Would this be utilized in place of the standard prelaminate material or after the initial proof lamination, like the deglossing sheets used with the Matchprint process? I'm looking for a way to reduce the glossiness of the Approval proofs, and I believe this would address this, but I'm not sure how it works (trying to get information as simple as this from Kodak leads you directly to voice mail hell).

Kodak Approval Matte Prelam

I ordred a box of matte prelaminate (P01) and received CP01. This stuff will tear the subsrate up. I am now waiting for some sample sheets of P01 and ML01. My asumption is that it is apllied just like P02. I've tried making proofs with no prelam at all and I still get too much gloss. Meanwhile I have been able to reduce some of the gloss by running the finished proof through our Dupont CV laminator (two 120c heated rollers).

Kodak Approval Matte

I received both the P01 and the ML01. They are both the same item except for size. ML01 is 545.5 x 698.5mm and the P01 is 330.2 x 521.487mm. They are used as Clod mentioned - after the proof lamination. Let the proof cool completely and pull apart slowly. They work great for a matte finish with one small drawback. If your proof contains white donor that is not part of a recipe or is not trapped, the ML01 will try to lift the white from the substrate. Simply run the proof through the laminator one more time and the white will lay back down. I'm very happy with the results.

Thanks for the reply brownie... particularly Since its been 2+ years since my original post! We've had this job on hold all this time and now can finally get it out the door. Seriously though, thanks for the info. I think we ended up sending the finished approval proof through the laminator by itself and settled upon tyhat for a "matte" finish, but it wasn't ideal.
