Inkjet Printer Recommendation

Hello, I'm currently shopping around for a large format 13x19 inkjet printer to replace my outdated epson stylus photo 1200 printer which will mainly be used to print out photo and text intensive design layouts. I'm very interested in the Canon i9900 based on its rep and speed but am concerned about its output quality when printing from graphic applications such as Quark 6, Illustrator CS, Indesign and Photoshop. Can anyone tell me based on their experience with Canon i9900, is there gonna be problem printing from any of these apps? In particularly, how well do the colors match to PMS and CMYK and how crisp does the type print etc. Also, would anyone recommend the latest Epson R1800 inkjet printer over the Canon based on my requirments mentioned above?

I'm currently using an epson 2200 which does a good job on photo and graphic. I had been looking at the i9900 and the deciding factor was that the epson can accept up to 1.3mm thickness paper.

Hi,

Both the i9900 and the 2200 are exceptional printers. From testing that I've seen, the i9900 has a slight edge on color reproduction. There shouldn't be any issues with print quality. Its related more to your printer driver on the OS than the technical capabilities of the printer. The advantage of the 2200 is Epson's broad range of archival inks and papers. Both printers are excellent choices.

Regards,
Greg
