File format - Photoshop Monotone to Illustrator?

I need help guys!

My problem:
The client provided me with a raster logo image (CMYK) Photoshop file.
The colors shown are: blue, a gradient blue, black and white.

The final output needs to be set for 2-color processing in Illustrator.

1. How do I convert the logo into a 2 color file?
a. I would like i.e into a duotone and set the colors to a blue Pantone and a white. The problem only is that white is not a color.

b.How would I go about it to convert the logo to say 1 Pantone color (the blue) and let the white parts of the logo (type etc) be knocked-out, since my bgr paper is white?

Thanks so much for your help! :?:

Well. . . if you're feeling ambitious, place the raster file into Illustrator and basically recreate it in vector. You can then set it to 2 color or whatever you'd like. Regarding part b, in that case its a 1 color file if you're printing on the same color as one of the inks (ink). You only need to worry about the blue.

Regards,
Greg

Hi Sparky and others,

thanks for all your great help!

I figured it out with duotone, monotone etc and THEN the client opted for CMYK. Oh well, at least I learned something.
