CIP3 from Artpro

Hi everybody! Nice to meet you.

I´am trying to use a system called "Compucut" from Polar Mohr to set cutting programs automatically.
We are using Artpro 8.1 and 8.5 and this system need CIP3 files. A could generate CIP files from Artpro but "Compucut" did not accept the information.
I don´t know if possible to use this options using Artpro or i´am doing bad settings.

What can i do? Someone to have experience in this system?

Hi Pablo,

CIP3 can be different depending on the needs. With the Heidelberg workflow, the CIP3 information for Computcut comes from our imposition program, Prinect Signa Station. I can remember integrating to Computcut back in 1999. Here is another link on it: Heidelberg - Compucut - Overview
We also generate CIP3 ink key presetting information from our rips. This is an option for our MetaDimension and Delta, and is a different program then what is used for cutting, although both are part of CIP3. I would ask Art Pro if they provide the CIP3 for cutting? If not, then this explains the problem, they probably only supply the part for ink key presetting, which is different parameters then are needed for cutting. You should also consult Polar as to what programs they support. Good luck.

Where i work we have five Offset machines and the complete workflow is from Heidelberg. In pre-press we are using Artpro to do the impositions but we have two Suprasetter with Signa Station, PrintReady, MetaDimension and MetaShooter. Do you think that with this system i should be work on compucut?

We use Power Layout from ArtPro, and we export CIP3 files for the pressroom to set the ink fountains.

File>Export CIP3...it then asks you where to save the file.

There are a few options, but it's pretty painless.

Do you use CIP3 on Compucut? I tried but it didn´t work. The system read the file but inside the information appear completely white.

CIP3 for setting ink keys is different subset then setting up for a cutter.

I can not say if it will work with ArtPro impositon, you will need to contact them to see if they offer CIP3 for Cutting data and if it will work with Compucut.

This will work if imposition is done with Signa. If you want to use Signa, please talk to you local Heidelberg rep, they will know your system and what you need.
