Links look bad in Powerlayout 8.5 rev1 on Intel mac

Has anyone else experienced really dark and bitmapped looking links that are placed into Powerlayout 8.5 rev1 on and Intel box? I just loaded up Powerlayout 8.5 rev1 on a 20" Intel Imac core duo (not core duo 2) and when even I place links into my layout, they are almost almost black in appearance with the exception of some areas of type being able to be made out. AWS support was able to duplicate the problem but doesn't know of any solution. Has any one else seen this yet?

I just noticed that they are building separate builds for PPC and Intel.
This is BAD and why they are having so many issues. They have opened up a huge can of worms.

shame on you ARTWORKS!!!

Call me naive but I thought the idea of Universal Binary was to eliminate this very thing. So for now I have scrapped the Intel version and loaded up the Power PC version of Powerlayout and am just letting Rosetta do it's thing. So far so good, I can even set type now which couldn't be done on an Intel box with version 8.3 or 8.4.

Artworks should just make one universal binary version that actually works and call it a day.

that's what I'm talking about! They do things wrong..This could be why one version works and the other does not! Apple spent the time and money to make this work and there goes little old Artworks doing it there on way and screwing it up.

This issue is fixed in 8.5 rev3. The universal build will be available with 8.5 rev4. We have separate builds available because they are smaller if you build for a particular OS so if you only have PPC then thats all you need to make. We understand users will start to have more of a mixed environment so a universal build will be nice. If you made it to the seminars we announced that with the version 8.5 downloads for Nexus edit and ArtPro you can make 1 build for up to 10 dongles so again making 1 universal might will be nice for mixed systems.

Thats good to know about 8.5, to bad it's not out yet.
That will help a great deal.

As far as making a universal vs not. I think the extra download size is mute.
Adding 5% to 7% in the size is not the issue.

So we await 8.5 with in the next 365 days
