Printing to a Canon Printer

We just purchased 4 Canon imagePROGRAF W8400 wide format printers. Does anybody out there have a workflow? I'm have issues with these printer. I guess you can't drop files on them, you must "Print" to them. How would I go about setting up a workflow for printing to these printer. Appletalk doesn't seem to work? I've tried calling AWS support (three calls today alone), but no luck with the call back. HELP (if anyone can)

Thanks,

T

Yes.....this is and has been a HUGE issue with Nexus.
They don't support IP printing.

Try using the FTP module for the send!

I don't know much about the imagePROGRAF.

I tried FTP, but the printer won't accept. It's frustrating to me that Nexus just can't come out and say they don't support IP printing. It would of made my life easier. I could of just moved forward instead of hanging out waiting for a response from support!!

They will tell you they do not support IP printing!

I've been on there case since 8.0, and all I get is ?????, it's just a wish so I have no time frame.

Since Apple is dropping AppleTalk with 10.5 they should have it done by then.

We have the W8200 and have EFI ColorProof XF driving it. Then we send one bit tiffs to the EFI hotfolder from Nexus.

Long says by the end of the year. (standard answer)

We don't have any front end on the one sided printers, but the double sided printer has a front end. Maybe we could use this as a front end for the other 2.?

Thanks,
T

P.S. I find more answers on this website than asking the tech reps...

This is why this web site is so great! There is a wealth of information people have and we all do it for free. The user base can and is always the best place for the truth. This is why just about all other vendors have and support some form of getting the users to talk. Artworks reminds me of Quark at times. My hope is that this forum will grow so that we all have a place were we can find the support we need in a timely matter.
