Photoshop DCS2.0 files and Illustrator CS2 - can't rip?

I have a Illustrator CS2 document with some DCS2.0 images that were created in Photoshop that I have placed and when I print host-based P.S. and drop it in to Nexus they don't show up when I view them in Insight. I have changed the color mode in the PS interpreter to PS controlled, pre-seperated etc. with no change in results. Is there something I am doing wrong here? Would I be better to bring the AI file into Artpro and then go that way? Is there any special way that I need to save the DCS2.0 files?

Thanks,
Dub

Make the DSC files a PSD and use it. Illy and nexus do not like dcs.

DCS is a dying format.

I tried to resave as PSD and then place.. got a message stating (the file is in a format that can not be placed). Any ideas? Saving as PSD, multichannel format, spot colors checked.

thanks,
Dub

You must have CMYK channels....They are ok to be blank...Then you need to make it a CMYK file...you other channels will be your spot.
Make sure you put the spot colors below the cmyk.

Two methods:

1.Open the DCS in Photoshop and save it as a .tif.
Reopen Illustrator and relink the image from the dcs to the .tif file.
Import to ArtPro as normal.

2. Open DCS in Photoshop. Save file again-select eps. Rename file as dcs before saving file to location. Be sure to select multiple files in the drop down. This creates a separate file for each color.
Relink the file in Illustrator, but select the dcs file created-not the resulting multiple files.
In Art Pro-when importing, Select Illustrator file. Click on OPI, then off again then on again-a glich in ArtPro requires you to turn it off then select it again. After selecting OPI, then path to the dcs file.
