Station numbers in power stepper

Does anyone know the correct way to get station numbers to rotate automatically 90 degrees when applying them? I can get it to work about 50% of the time and I honestly dont know what I do to make it rotate. It seems to be very hit or miss.

Station numbers

Two instances where it would not work are:

A) when the CAD file has wrong orientations and you have rotated the artwork to fit the stepped layout
B) When the CAD is such that front of face is heads up but where you are putting the station number is opposite orientation

It is only a station number. If you really want it to be correct orientation every time then you must choose a dust flap/glue area that is the same orientation as the artwork/CAD. If its packaging cartons, you should be putting the station number on the bottom tuck in flap because nobody will ever open those flaps and see it unless they are specifically looking for it. The bottom tuck in flaps are always same orientation as fornt face and therefore always work

These are seed packets that are nested in rows 180 degrees from one another, are you saying that if my art and cad are the same it should work correctly? That might explain why sometimes it works and other times it doesnt because we do have to manually rotate some files in the layout.

Thanks for the reply.

If the seed packets are symmetrical and the CAD operator has not bothered to rotate the packets because the die wouldn't be affected then when you apply graphics all packets will be the same orientation which is technically incorrect. You need the speak to the CAD creators. You should be supplied with the 1-up CAD too so you can see the correct orientation (usually it is logical but not always - i.e. 1-up CAD is drawn at 90? but appears at 0? on step). Your 1-up files orientation must match this 1-up CAD for the all the step and repeat functions to work as expected i.e apply graphics, trims and station numbers. if the orientation is different and you manually rotate the paint of the 1-up on the stations then it will still remember the CADs orientation and apply the trims and station numbers accordingly as they were originally not relative to how they appear.

Ok, found the problem apparently the cad files were rotated in design and not in layout so my guys have been rotating the artpro files prior to putting them in the layout, as the cad and art are not rotated the staion numbers arent either.

Thanks for your help.
