.ap is the old way.

the correct way is .art, but both will work.

If .ap is the old way,why does the latest version of AP(8.1rev4) automatically put on .ap ?

Just be cause Artworks is slow to change does not make it correct.
The correct way is to have 3 or 4 letters.

In nexus, and I can't think of where right now but in one place it will add .art while the other it will add .ap.

Sounds like the same deal with scale changes in Nexus. In some 100% is "+1.0" while in others it's "+0". Some consistancy would sure be nice once in awhile.

In ArtPro 8.1, if you saved an ArtPro file, ArtPro would always suggest .ap. In ArtPro 8.2 (just released), you can deactivate this in the preferences, as many users want to use the extension .art. But on Mac, it doesn't really matter what extension you are using.
