Nexus 8.0
Anybody using Nexus 8.0 yet? I see it has been released recently and was wondering how it's working. Any problems with transparency, PDF 1.5, etc.?
Thanks,
Jim

When you downloaded it, did you get a file extension? Lately I have had to add .zip, .sit or .msi to the files to get them to work. I downloaded with Firefox on Mac OS 10.3.6.

I emailed Long Nguyen at support@pro.com about Nexus 8. This is my question and his response:
Quote:
Me: I see that Nexus 8 rev 2 is available now. Are there any issues I need to be aware of before upgrading Nexus 7.5 rev 10 to Nexus 8 rev 2? My main concern is, will all of the existing workflows still work after the upgrade as I don't want to have to re-create all of them over again?
Long: If you need 8.0 rev2 for Transpaency then yes do the upgrade but if not then hold up the upgrade. There are some issues still at this point with 8.0 rev2.
On the WFs, 8.0 will require you to build new WFs, some can be restored and some can not do to the way it is creating the file and dependencies so I would say that it is best to rebuild them all.

So be prepared to make up new workflows if you upgrade.

Great. I knew that I was going to have to make new WFs but I didnt realize that 8r2 had issues. I wish they would wait until a version is stable before releasing it!

I'm awaiting a reply from Nexus tech support to see if they actually recommend running it. What I'd like to do is keep Nexus 7.5 Rev 10 on the PC for production and to put 8.0 Rev 3 on the same machine so I can run it through the paces before trying it out in production. Does anyone know if you can have both loaded on the Nexus machine at the same time without screwing something up?

Talked to tech support today and they said they are just getting initial feed back from 8 rev 3, and I quote "Unless you have daily issues with 7.5" i.e pdf 1.5 "then I would not recomend upgrading just yet."
Just my 2 cents
