Nexus RIP and Nexus Edit only for Flexo

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on the Nexus RIP and additional modules. I had a demo on it, but I'm having a little trouble remembering what modules did what. After seeing the pricing, I could probably get the boss to spring for the Nexus RIP and Nexus Edit only. Is there really any major advantages to using Nexus RIP and Nexus Edit (without having Nexus Import, Processor, DotSpy, Power Layout, and Symphony) compared to using Rampage, OpenRIP, or ApogeeX. It seems like, without the vector editing/trapping of Import and Processor, there's not much more to the rip than the competition offers. I work in a flexo label shop, so every job has to be stepped and needs bearer bars. Without having Power Layout (expen$ive add-on), this would mean going back into Quark or InDesign to do my stepping then re-outputting the job everytime...I would end up with a lot of extra files for one job. I believe OpenRIP is the only RIP with a die database that prevents having to manually step jobs.

I don't have any experience using Nexus, so your opinions would mean a lot.

Thank you,
Steve

We use Nexus in an offset sheetfed shop and are very happy with it. I think that Import, Proceesor and Rip all come in the standard config. Nexus Edit is on a per seat basis.

You can make vector or raster workflows. We mostly use the raster based workflows - rip/trap the pages and impose low-res eps "link" files with Preps for plate output.

I don't have experience in the flexo world, but the Platecell Patterning screening is supposed to be very good (better solids, reduced halo). Probaly also an ($)add-on.
