Huge Postscripts to nexus
We are having a problem printing Large quark docs to Nexus. The printing hangs up about half way through. Dont think this is really a Nexus issue but more of a print issue but im wondering if anybody has had problems with large qurak files hanging while printing?

We commonly print alot of large files to Nexus and havent had a burp, however we do have alot of network lag after the file is spooled to the RIP.

Is the Nexus server a PC or a Mac? There could be a issues in read/write settings on network cards or in the switch.

Are you printing through print center/choose to a printer queue, or do you print to a PS file that gets created in a folder on Nexus?

Instead of printing to a printer queue, try saving postscript and point it to a hot folder. I'm not sure how Nexus works, but it may be trying to chew (process) the PS coming in through the printer queue while most PS is coming. Typically RIPs will not start to process files dumped into hot folders until the file transfer has completed. Not all printer queues behave this way, most process as they recieve which can give the appearance of network errors. In that instance, there may be a buffer setting on the RIP that needs to be adjusted. Or, there may be a duplexing issue between the two networked devices which is cauing packets to be resent or dropped.

Try saving the ps file to your local drive and sending it with Downloader. (A great app, by the way, wish there was an OSX version).
