On our OS 9 workstations, we print jobs to file, then drag the ps to the downloader app (after having selected nexus in the chooser).

No hot folders in Nexus? Downloader works well, so does BBEdit. You should be able to drop a PS file on print center and have print center send the PS file to the queue. But there again, you may be running into a problem where the queue is processing the job as it recieves it. But no RIP should start to process a file while it's being copied, the finder or the OS won't allow it.

Well it turned out to be a couple of different things. a bad ppd. and I was told background printing was off, but it was on! It still took a while to print but it did end up working once we replaced the ppd and turned off the background printing. Thanks to everybody who responded.

Print spooling on the desktop has always been evil. If you want print spooling, aka background printing, print to a server queue that spools. Like in ASIP, Mac OS X Server, Print Central, Color Central, Helios, etc. The last two being OPI servers. Good to hear you got back up and running normally. It's always the little turds like back ground printing that cause the problems...

By the way Nexus does have Hot Folders you can setup so you can drop your postscript files in the hot folder. Then Nexus will poll the folder and wait until the file is done before starting to Process it.

It works for PDF or EPS files also. I use hotfolders more than I print.
