Avantra help

First time poster!
Hi all,
hope everything is well. The main trouble i have is that the expsoure is fine on 100% but when you get down to 5% it comes out at 3 and maybe even 2.5,would this be the curves on the laser?
thanks

Um, Interresting user name!
I would start my answer with the fact that if you're getting within 2% on a 21 step curve, you're within industry accepted standard....
We used to run all 3 of our Agfa imagesetters linear, no Xcurve was ever needed, as long as we kept the Dmax (exposure level measurement on film for maximum density) between.....
um... I think 4.8 - 5.2 Dmax.
We ran Agfa film, FYI.

Tackycloth is nice for the drum, shouldn't need to adjust vaccum. Film cleaner w/ cheesecloth for the spinning mirror (I used to need to clean the Avantra 44 mirror very often to keep dmax and linearization stable)

the only thing I can advise is to keep your plastic gears lubricated to keep them from wearing out. We used a really thick petroleum based oil/grease (similar to vaseline).
