Anyone care to share any stories about their trip to Boston for Apogee X training?

Return flight sucked. Was supposed to fly out at 3 pm. was at the airport by 11 a.m.. Flight delayed 6 hours, was supposed to go thru Philly, but they re-routed me to LaGuardia so I could catch another flight to Columbus. That one was cancelled because of weather. By then, the only hotels available were about $500 bucks a night, so I ended up sleeping at LaGuardia, flew out on Saturday morning via North Carolina to get back to Columbus at 3 p.m. Sat.

If you get Phil for class he's a good teacher. Very easy to learn the software. Free lunch provided by Agfa. Good local restaurants. Especially seafood (duh). I recommend the Weathervane restaurant in Salem.

Be wary of the rush hour traffic. They're allowed to drive in the break down lane during rush hour. Kind of unsettling if you're not used to it. Also, something else I wasn't prepared for is the fact that they don't have highway lights so when you're coming up on an exit ramp at night, you're in complete darkness.

You were at the airport by 11am, I guess that means there is no class on Friday??

How close to the Agfa facility did you stay??

Did you have to rent a car??

Thanks,

I flew into Manchester, NH. Got a rental car that my employer paid for.

I stayed at the Wyndham Hotel in Andover, MA which was about 7 miles north of Wilmington on I-93.

Class on Friday was cut short (we left at lunch). He says it usually is short as long as he gets through all the material he needs to by then. We had a class of only 4, so very little time was used up asking and answering questions and I guess that's why we got through the material quickly.

Hi Jason,

I flew into Manchester, NH instead of Boston Logan (easier to navigate).

I didn't rent a car (fortunately one of the other students in the class did which provided transportation to and from class and some dinner opportunites away from the hotel). Lunch was on Agfa in their cafeteria.

As for the hotel, I stayed at the Wyndham Andover which about 7 or 8 miles from the Agfa. Agfa has a negotiated rate with this hotel which provides pretty good pricing (and the amenities are nice too)! Check out their Wyndham by Request program which gives you free stuff in your hotel room.

The class, under the instruction of Phil Crosby, was held right around the corner from the technical assistance center. It was nice to finally put faces with voices ;-)

I also was mad that after I went there last august, I come to find out via a Food Network special that there is a diner in Manchester called the Red Arrow Diner.
Red Arrow Diner
I wish I had known this was there during my trip because the food looked really good on T.V.

Hi all,

I will be attending the ApogeeX training the week of September 24-28. My company just upgraded from Series3 and is looking forward to working with such an improved workflow. I am so glad to hear about the new alliance that AGFA has with Adobe which should help keep us closer to being up to date with current levels of PDF. I'm so tired of having to make everything PDF 1.3 so our RIP won't choke on it.
