Configuration problems with the Agfa accuset 800

Hello,

I have some problems with configuration of or Agfa accuset 800
First about the hard- and software what we use.
- Agfa accuset 800
- RIP: Old Apple with OS 7.1 and Agfa Viper 1.9.2
- Workstation: WinXP with Adobe Illustrator CS2

When we print from Illustrator via the network to the RIP, the output is very sharp and
everything works fine.
But when we print a colour separation, the RIP place everything like landscape one after the another like the illustration here below.

This is a waste of material, so I want to change it like the second illustration here below.

I try to print it in a few different ways like: portrait, landscape, portrait upside-down and landscape upside-down.
But still the RIP print it like the first illustration.

Maybe I doing something very wrong, but I don’t know what.
Maybe I must something configured into the RIP or accuset?
Or I have to change something into the PPD file?

I hope somebody is possible to help me.
I sorry for my very bad way of writing English.

The first thing comes to my mind is there is a compatibility problem. Rip on a old mac. Workstation on a new XP pc with Adobe Cs2. I think this is a problem, sending CS2 files who like ps level3 to an old rip.

A compatibility problem it’s, but not a PS level 3 problem.
I try today to print with another Apple to the RIP (also Apple), and
there was no problem.
To print with a PC over the AppleTalk network you need a program
like PC maclan.
So, tomorrow I will try something into the configuration from PC maclan.
I will come back at this

We got around this issue by having a Windows server act as a print spooler. Capture the appletalk rip from the Windoze machine and then republish the spooler. The server is raw in and out. This got around the maclan issue. The issue is PC to appletalk obviously. Been there and done that...Remember that XP cannot see a Mac(Appletalk) so you need to use Server 2000 or 2003

Hmmm, I lost already a few days about this XP and PC-Maclan problems.
So, I think the PC must make place for a brand new Apple Imac
Now I know where is the problem and why it's like that.

Thanxx for help

Just a thought. If you are thinking of changing the RIP computer it probably has a SCSI board driving the accuset. I am not sure the move to new Intel can support the SCSI as we had a tough time at the cross over from OS 9 to X.

Be very careful as this is "working" now. Don't fool with the setup unless you have install disks and you know what you are doing. A cheap solution is to buy Windoze Business Server software. I have responded to lots who have bought the now cheap accuset and fooled with them thinking they can make it work with OS x. There is little service around. My mac before I sold the system was running 8.1 on a clone Mac. Nothing fancy.

I will let the RIP like it is, It's running fine.
But the workstation will be change for an Apple Imac, then we can print with no problems.

Maybe you missed the message I gave. It is XP that is the issue not the computer. An Intel running XP may still give you the problem. XP to Appletalk is the problem I am guessing. XP to Windoze Server to Appletalk is a workable solution.

I was not missing the message, but possible that I didn’t understand it good.
It's not my native language, I'm sorry.

But what I understand is that WinXP is the problem, that's why the PC with WinXP must make a place for a new Imac.

Still I wanted to change to Apple and get lost off WinXP
I get sick of WinXP with his virus problems and more things like that.

Accuset 800

I hope I am not off base here. We are using accuset 800 with viper 1.92 and I would like to change from film to poly plates. I have been trying but every time I run a plate the image is not as it should be. I have tried incremental settings of 10 from 55-255 and none of them seem to produce a usable or close to useable plate, I would appreciate any help in determinnig what settings to use with the poly plates. We still use the hot folder option and send PS files which seems to work ok
