AGFA LP68 cleaning issue

(reposted from CTP forum)

Last couple of times we cleaned down the processor and couldn't get plates thru' until the following day when all was well again. Seemed like the sensor input sensor wasn't seeing the plate.

We called AGFA in, the only suggestion we got that was perhaps we'd got the sensor wet at the input throat of the processor. So, last week, same thing happened, even tho' we'd taped up the aperture. After three hours the sensor/processor started working again.

Anyone else experienced this? BTW we found a workround to continue making plates; within the diagnostics program you can override the sensor and turn the processor on to continuous. 'INPUT sensor Lock to 1' did the trick.

When you are unable to image plates what does the display on the LP68 and the Palladio say.

Does the LP68 say Ready??

Does the Palladio show the Plate size and remaining plates??

or do they show something else??

We are able to image plates but as when they enter the LP68, they are not detected by the sensor. The display says 'READY' , the Palladio reports a Plate Jam at C4 (this is correct, since the plate efectively hasn't cleared the imaging unit sensor.

When we lift the cover of the processor and cover the cell at the input, the display should read PROCESSING, but as I described in my original post the sensor seems to have a reduced sensitivity after a clean down. BTW shining a small torch onto it activates the processing cycle.

After 2-3 hours the cell regains its functionality.

I don't know what to tell you other than the obvious - 'ya need a new sensor.

When I clean our LP68 I am pretty liberal with the water hose and have never had that issue. Knock on Wood

I'd say that too Jason, but for the fact that at all other times the darned thing works without a hitch.

AGFA techies took a look and pronouced it fit.

While you're online would be so kind as to take a look at the digiwedge strip on the grip edge of your plate and just confirm at which point do you see the white circle clearly...

Ours show clearly white at the 1x1 box. I have a small issue with AGFA insofar as I can't get any two techies to agree the correct value where the circle turns white!

Your are correct, it is difficult to find Agfa Tech's that agree on what the correct exposure looks like.

With our exposure, the 1x1 is pretty close to white, if anything it has a very slight "haze". The 2x2 and up blend into the backgroud color.

I had a Agfa Plate Tech in here a while back and he pronounced our exposure "good to go."
