Tiger and Apogeex client 1.27.11
Yeah, just upgraded to Tiger 10.4.1 and now the apogeex client software crashes. An Agfa bod is working on the issue and I'm awaiting his response. Could be something to do with Tiger dropping support for AFP? Just a guess. Can anyone else shed some light?

Too late really
Not an option seeing as I've already upgraded. Surprised at AGFA in general really, our week long install of apogeex and a palladio platesetter has taken five weeks! Software upgrade issues and plate processor malfunctions galore. Why bother trying to keep OS9 compatibility? The tech bod I spoke to hasn't bothered to get back in contact and the intellsyst on the apogeex server has never worked. Sorry, this is sounding like a rant isn't it.
Anyway, had to have tiger because of those pretty but useless american based dashboard widgets! Ha!
Thanx for your help.x

ApogeeX client is working great on Tiger 10.4.1 here. Do you use DNS or NetInfo manager for host name resolving? What version of ApogeeX and Mac client are you using?

apogeex server 1.27.10
apogeex client 1.27.11
all addresses manually input in netinfo under /machines
our 10.3.9 mac works fine!?

Did you specify a DNS server? If yes, then you should verify if the IP addresses match with the hostnames and vice versa using nslookup in the Network Utility.
Also note that Mac OS X hostnames are case-sensitive in the NetInfo Manager. Note as well that the Mac client should be able to resolve the FQN (fully-qualified hostname) like "hostname.domain_name_suffix".
If you have Mac client 1.27.11 which is the ApogeeX 2.5 client, then you have two options for client connection mode in the Preferences dialog. One is "IP based", the other "hostname based". Did you try using both options? I didn't play around yet with both options as my client works great here, both on 10.3.9 and 10.4.1. Mine is on IP based which is selected after you install the client.
We did have issues before when we started with ApogeeX, which is why i got into this and learned about it.

Thanks for that, not sure which part of the apogeex client software install involves specifying a DNS server, not with you there. Also, i'm pretty sure that the client software logon only deals with ip addresses not server names.
As I say, all netinfo was done by an Agfa engineer which I've subsequently deleted and re-entered since loading 10.4.1 (keeping in mind case-sensitivity). Everything was fine with 10.3.9
As a matter of interest did you clean install 10.4 or upgrade, I upgraded. Getting fed up with walking over to the client software on the server! (lazy git!)

Montoid - at what point does the client crash? Is it straight away when you try to login or after you have logged in whilst you are using it? Also - try using the 'ping' feature of the network utility application. You should be able to 'ping' the ApogeeX server by typing its machine name (e.g. Xserver1 as well as by typing it's IP address). If you cannot 'ping' the server by name then it's name & ip address have not been resolved by the mac even though they are entered with netinfo manager. Let me know how you get on - I may have a fix.

When I click logon the client crashes, I've tried pinging the server name Xserver1 and it doesn't recognise it but the IP address is recognised as you suspected, I'd be really interested in this fix you may have! Cheers!
